TARABUK

Marco Lo Russo: accordion

Tiziano Zanotti: double bass

Tarabuk is a challenge.

A challenge taking the accordion and the double bass to their extremes.

The accordion, an instrument that “breathes” with the musician and well-known for its melodic characteristics, in Tarabuk is enriched with enormous harmonic and polyphonic possibilities.

The double bass, which in popular tradition is seen as an accompaniment pizzicato instrument, in Tarabuk is played with the bow to make melodies in a XIX centuries’ classical music style.

It is a challenge because even without a real percussion instrument the essential element of rhythm is there as an intense physical and interior movement: the instruments are hit, ill-treated and through an exceptional use of electronic effects reveal a world full of nuances.

It is difficult to classify this music: original pieces, improvisations, Mediterranean atmospheres, tango, Eastern Europe impressions, classical and contemporary sounds create a concert of pure music.

A performance worthwhile seeing as well as listening.

Tarabuk is a game of sounds and movements, it's an exploration fuelled with a dose of risk and control. Tarabuk is search for simplicity
