Last December 2021, after receiving the prestigious Angel Film Award – Monaco International film festival, for the best original soundtrack, Maestro Marco Lo Russo left for Mexico as president of the Marco Lo Russo Music Center APS Association for the Made in Italy concerts project that for years, the same association for social promotion, has been promoting in order to enhance Italian culture and beyond.
The tour in Mexico, lasting over a month, included cultural exchange initiatives, events with other arts like painting and sculpture, as well as concerts and exhibitions. The long collaboration with Oscar winner Nicola Piovani for the film Life is Beautiful by and with Roberto Benigni, Marco Lo Russo has made the accordion the protagonist of his musical art, clearing it from the popular instrument of the collective imagination, shaping it with versatility, in acoustic or with electronic support, for soundtracks, shows and concerts that he directed and conceived. Composer, arranger, conductor, musicologist, he is considered one of the most representative contemporary Italian musicians. Listed in the Italian Cinema & Audiovisual Yearbook for his soundtracks, he has received numerous awards, critical reviews and illustrious appreciations, from artists like Ennio Morricone, Leo Brouwer, Pupi Avati, Piera Degli Esposti, Giorgio Albertazzi, just to name a few.
